Stellenbosch VIP Private 1-Day Wine Tour
Stellenbosch is the second oldest wine region in South Africa and is set in the heart of the Cape Winelands. With over 200 wine producers in the region, Verene, Linda & Joanna (who have over 15 years experience in the wine industry) have carefully selected some of the more exclusive wine estates to take you on a relaxed tour to sample some of the stunning wines that the area is famous for.
Collection from your accommodation (within 35km of Cape Town City Centre) or a prior arranged collection point at 9am.
First on the agenda will be TokaraWine Estate where we will be given a unique learning experience and glimpse into how their award winning single varietal, Extra Virgin olive oils are produced. A guided tour of approximately 45 minutes, will take us on a meandering tour through the picturesque olive grove along which sculptures are placed for viewing and enjoyment.
The tour ends with a tasting of Tokara’s 7 lovely wines – the first 4 wines make up the Classic Range, and the last 3 will be from the Premium Range, followed by a casual tour of the wine cellar where we will be told the story of the history, the winemakers and wines that Tokara produce.
Next we will travel to Jordan Wine Estate – Gary and Kathy Jordan have been making world-class wines since 1993 on a farm with a history going back over 300 years. Together this husband and wife team is a phenomenon. Gary’s parents, Ted and Sheelagh, bought the 146 hectare Stellenbosch property in 1982, and embarked on an extensive replanting programme, specializing in classic varieties suited to the different soils and slopes.
Unique by Nature’s Design, the Jordan slopes face North, South, East and West, with vineyards lying at differing altitudes from 160 to 410 m above sea level. The vineyards benefit from their close proximity to both the Indian and Atlantic Oceans and enjoy a mild, Mediterranean climate with a maritime influence.
The Jordan philosophy combines the vineyards’ natural assets with innovative management, creating a profound expression of terroir. Jordan Wine Estate – the perfect Synergy between Soul and Soil.
We will sample some of their exceptional wines and get to see what makes this wine estate so special.
The Lunch venue will be your choice – Tokara, Jordan or lunch at Overture with Bertus Basson.
Overture with Bertus Basson at Hidden Valley
And last, but by no means least, we end off this wine tour with a Wine tasting at Rust En Vrede.
For 315 years Rust en Vrede has stood peacefully among the vineyards of Stellenbosch. Through centuries there were periods when wine was produced, but for the last 37 years our family have specialized in producing only red wine with the focus on Shiraz, Cabernet and Merlot.
Many accolades have been bestowed upon the estate and some of the more memorable were when Rust en Vrede was chosen by President Nelson Mandela to be served at the Nobel Peace Prize dinner and hosting the Queen of Denmark for a lunch with my family at the Manor House. Rust en Vrede was nominated as the first South African red wine in the Top 100 Wines of the World and repeated this achieved for four consecutive years.
At the end of a fantastic day, we will return you to your pick-up point.
